My artwork is an attempt to order and make sense of the many diverse, often chaotic parts that make up our experience of living. I respond intuitively to a place, a memory, sensations, anything can spark off an idea. Whichever medium I work in, I use a process of construction – layering, revealing, obliterating, adding and subtracting – to explore spatial relationships, colour, pattern, form, gesture and rhythm. Step-by-step a more distilled image, with its own peculiar language, emerges from this constantly shifting process, like a residue.
